Stepmother Arrested After Child Death

Las Vegas, Nevada- On January 22, 2021, at approximately 6:06 p.m., medical personnel responded to a
residence located in the 1900 block of North Walnut Road for a report of an unresponsive
four-year-old boy.

booking1 Medical arrived and immediately transported the child to UMC
Pediatrics where he was pronounced decease. Physicians examined the victim and
found injuries consistent with abuse.

The investigation by the LVMPD Abuse Neglect Section indicates the victim was left home
with his stepmother, 29-year-old Patricia Atalig, while his father was at work. When the
victim’s father came home, he found his son unresponsive and called for medical.
Through the course of the investigation, it was determined the child had sustained a head
injury earlier in the afternoon. As a result, Atalig was arrested and transported to CCDC
for Open Murder and Child Abuse Resulting in Death.

The identification of the victim, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released
by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
